FEB 1-7 is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week in Canada


Eating Disorders affect people of all genders, sexual orientations, ages, socioeconomic class, abilities, races, and ethnic backgrounds. That is why, from February 1st to 7th every year, Eating Disorder groups across Canada unite to commemorate Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW) with a national week of action focused on educating the public about Eating Disorders.

Talking to someone about your Eating Disorder or disordered eating experience can be quite difficult. Our materials include a conversation guide that you can share on social media, a poster-sized tips for people navigating recovery, and a tailored resource list so you know where to go to access helpful information.



2022 Alberta Health Services (AHS) Eating Disorders Symposium
February 22 – March 3, 2022

If anyone is interested in learning more about eating disorders and treatment, there is an Eating Disorders Symposium coming up between Feb 22-March 3. You can sign-up for individual sessions/topics and it’s all over zoom so no need to leave your home. Also if you’re ever looking for eating disorder resources the Eating Disorder Support Network of Alberta is a great website with information about eating disorders, support for families and treatment options in Alberta.

Athletes Embodied

A partnership between NEDIC, Western University and the University of Toronto, Athletes Embodied, integrates scientific research and perspectives from athletes, leaders, and decision makers in Canadian youth sport, with the goal of improving the experiences and retention of adolescent girls in sport. We do this by providing actionable, evidence-based guidelines and resources that address body image challenges in sport, with a specific focus on girls ages 11-16.

Kelly Drager – CEC’s High Performance Committee Member

CEC is very fortunate to work with Kelly Drager, a performance dietician based at CSI Calgary and a RED-S committee member. Kelly sits on CEC’s High Performance Committee and lends her considerable expertise to the High Performance Program. Kelly will be giving a session to all athletes invited at the CEC High Performance Camp on March 10-11. Recording of this session will be made available on the CEC YouTube Channel.
