The CEC Board of Directors met on April 12 to discuss the current situation regarding the COVID pandemic in Canada. The Board has approved an update to its COVID Vaccination and Face Covering Policy, initially adopted on September 14, 2021.
Effective as of April 14, the CEC will now refer back to the guidelines in place from the Public Health Authority in the province or territory where the event is being held, or to the regulations of the hosting facility at the time of the event (whichever is greater).
- For the Speed Youth National Championships, that means that the Alberta Public Health guidelines (or those of the Calgary Climbing Centre) will be in place on April 23, 2022.
- For the Boulder Youth National Championships, that means that the Quebec Public Health guidelines (or those of Le Crux Escalade) will be in place from May 19-21, 2022.
- For the Lead Youth National Championships, that means that the Quebec Public Health guidelines (or those of Canyon Escalade) will be in place from May 22-23, 2022.
CEC strongly recommends that all attendees are fully vaccinated and wear appropriate face coverings while at the event. CEC will continue to implement its COVID Protocol and require participants to self-assess symptoms of COVID-19 prior to attending a CEC event.
In consideration of the ever-changing COVID situation, CEC and its Hosting Partners reserve the right to review this statement at any time leading up to the events.
